GlobWetland II - Monitoring of Ecosystems/Wetland mapping with GEOclassifier

The GlobWetland-II toolbox is delivered to 15 countries in Northern Africa, Middle East and Europe.

The software has been used for the production of maps and indicators for:

  • the 200 Wetlands from Morocco to Syria
  • x 3 acquisition dates x 3 map products + 4 indicators
  • = 1800 maps + 800 indicators
  • classification accuracy > 92%

National focal points of Ramsar in Africa and Middle East are using the toolbox to produce maps for additional acquisition dates and more wetland locations. The derived statistics and trend analysis results of the wetland degradation and threats will be needed for protection measures and political decisions.

MWO/TdV is extending the map and indicator production to:

  • the Northern part of the Mediterranean
  • 150 additional wetland locations
  • + 1350 maps + 600 indicators
